Yes  they  are  rare.  I  hardly  see  them  in  Lfs.  May  be  because  people  find  crowns  and  halfmoons  more  attractive.
I  may  be  wrong  but  I  guess  they  were  first  developed  in  India.

They  indeed  are  rare  and  I  have  hardly  seen  them  in  my  visits  to  any  of  LFS.  For  the  benefit  of  the  fellow  IAH  members  who  may  be  interested  in  getting  them,  could  you  please  let  all  know  where  you  saw  them?

Couple  of  days  back,  I  saw  a  sick  looking  double  tail  betta  in  my  local  LFS.  The  way  he  was  looking  at  me  it  seemed,  he  was  begging  me  to  take  him  home  and  so  did  I,  very  well  knowing  that  he  is  sick.  On  top  of  it,  he  was  in  a  tank  full  of  serpaes  who  were  nipping  at  his  fin.   I  just  couldn't  leave  him  in  that  condition
Currently,  I  have  quarantined  him  in  a  separate  bowl   and  have  added  some  rock  salt  to  it.  Just  hope  he  recovers.
