Now to start mixing them and hope there is no big bang. |

Price break up Sandeep
please.
surely looks doable after you posted the gram measure. Nice going.
What matter is rest of the percentage? |

Sandeep I should have typed no need to chelate any other cation but iron ! |

Thanks, that is a big load of from my head.
Btw which chelator do you use |

EDTA
Then DTPA
Then someone I know suggested DTPA + EDTA ups the chelation ! So tried that.
I felt better and the plants grew abundantly as usual.
Then Fulvic acid.
I am very happy with fulvic acid for now as I have an inexhaustible stock ! |

Ohhhhh i hate chemistry...... I never thought my hobby will pull me to it again.... Sandeepgi excellent work. i think we need to have a workshop on 'how to make liquid fertilisers at home' on any of our iah meets. |

EDTA has higher % of iron, DTPA is more stable, maybe togather they work well, God knows.
Seachem claim that iron in Ferrous state is more easily assimlated by plants. Hence they use ferrous salts.
BTW could not find any informaion on chelation by fulvic acid, any links.
I hated chemistry specially at Graduate stage, became a CA so that I did not have to study chemistry.
So much so for tryimg to get rid of cmemsitry |

Thanks Sandeep, will be patient.
The question was on percentages `% in mixture`, they dint add upto 100, so want to know whats the rest. Or is it a solution that you are making? |

The % in mixture is weight of say iron in total mix, they will not add up to 100.
Fe gluco contains 12.46% of iron so if i use 8.6 gm(8600mg), the iron will be 1072 mg.
The weight of total mix is 11.04gm, so the % is 9.7% of total mix.
The ppm given are a better guide, all calculations are based on ppm, the ratio are misleading.
Fe % in Fe DTPA is 6.98% AND IN Fe gluco is 9.7%.
But when 13 gm of Fe DTPA or 8.6 gm of FE gluco are dissloved in 1 lit of water both will give 1077.7 ppm of iron in bottle. |

Sandeep the advantage of Fulvic acid is - one molecule of fulvic acid has multiple chelation points so more than one atom of cation can be bound to one molecule of fulvic acid.
Molecular weight of fulvic acid - dunno !
The best part of that chelation is it does not break down if the solution is alkaline, unlike humic acid which needs an acid medium.
Both will chelate NH4+ !!!
Now remember all about water changes the first couple of weeks after using commercial products ?
Use soft water blah blah blah .... |

Yes, on further reading it seems to be the best chelator around.
I can find out the molecular weight of Fulvic acid, what I wanted to know was the ratio Fulvic acid to iron compound.
Like for mixing with DTPA I think both are mixed in ratio of their molecular weights.
However my present supply of Ferrous gluconate will most probably outlast me.
Might use Fulvic acid in my next life.

Now if they are chelating ammonium, does it mean that plants are able to absorb it better?
OR i am thinking in reverse |

Plants use up less energy to assimilate N from NH4+ than from NO3- ! |
