I too have seen these in the local market.
The problem was that the box does not specify the kelvin rating.
Anyone from Bangalore who has purchased them and is sure of it being 6500 K?
I am eager to try them out! |

| Is there anyone who has done a panel of DIY led lights. I guess its not feasible for a large tank..but a normal to midsize can be done. My intention really would be if i can arrange smaller LEDs, i can add a few blue ones giving a different effect. Just a thought. |

Thanks Madan for giving a wonderful option of LED lighting.
I am planning on 54x18x21 planted aquaria and I am scouting for lightings that are both economical in long run(electricity bills) and would give next best result to metal hallide.
The 30W LED flood lights could just be the answer as it is in cooler temp range of 6500K, 3 LED will give 90 watts, enough for a 4 feeter.
I am planning to keep tetras on the planted setup, will they be too bright for fish, would the fish be startled? do the lamps heat up?
I went through Anish's like and the HC look fabulous!!
@Anish - can you upload pics of your glosso too?
Also if anyone has used it for Marine setup, is the marine setup having live rock? A pic would be helpful.
Regards,
Tushar. |

The light is not that bright to spook fish.
It's economical that's true, and hassle free.
You'll have to figure out mounting on your tank, but that shouldn't be too difficult. |

| I dont think watt per gallon is now applicable as we have very high efficient leds in the market. I will be using 144 watts of led on my reef in place of 400 w of Metal Halide. |

Found this supplier in delhi.
http://www.deepakshionline.com/flood_lights_30w.php
Manufacturer in Mumbai: http://www.eurolightsltd.com/LL-FLB-20W.html.htm
They even have a 50W and 150W unit
By the way my tank is 4.5x2x2. Can someone here suggest what setup of LED should I use in case I wanna get the 30 W unit.
Also I saw many places selling the waterproof led running strip which has a 3M sticky tape behind it. I checked the prices at Rs 200 a sq ft.
Would they work? they come in many colors, but I guess for tanks we would have to settle for yellow or bright white.
What sayest thou? |

Madan had brought it online. He have given the links to the website. You get cheap chinese varieties led flood light in Bangalore. Majority of them do not have any specification. You will have to buy it on your own risk. Though it is very cheap it would serve its purpose to some extent.
Also do read what Madan had posted on the light intensity. |

Swarnendu, I going to use the 20 watt LED on a tank 24 x 18 x 15
and the 10 Watt LED on a 12 x 10 x 12 inch tank.
Sumit,
For a 3 x 1.5 x 1.5 feet tank I guess 2 x 20 watt lights will do, and for a 4 x 2 x 2 feet it should be 3 x 30 watt.
I'll be fixing the lights in a couple of days, so I'll know the spread for sure.
I have a very bad feeling these could be too much light, for my tanks, as the LED burn brilliant bright when I tested them in air.
I have to check light penetration through water.
There will be a little DIY involved to mount them, but that should not be a problem. They are cost effective, for small tanks,
atleast for me.
|
Madan, a 32 watt pll produces approx 2500 lumnes.
a 20 watt led given in the link produces 2100 lumens.
So why should there be too much of light, or am i missing something?
Presently I have 168 watt of CFl giving me 10500 lumens for a tank of 36*18*18.
So will this means I need to have 20*5 watt led for my tank.
Hope i don't boil the water. |

You may be right Sandeep, as the LED will not throw out heat into water. You might want to see TGIAC winner's tank with these on.
Hope it helps. |
