Dear All,
I am an Aquarist, Having quite knowledge on Aqua spacing.
I have my tank with 12 Neons fishes. With external EHEIM filter.
My Tank size is 31 cm Length, 16 cm With , 18 Cm Height.
My Question is about how to make DIY Co2 Equipment?. Is this good cost wise and Quality wise.?
Or
If i buy a CO2 cylinder with complete Kit.. Then this will me be good in quality wise.
Also, I have mentioned my Tank size. Kindly provide me how much substrate needed for this.
For lighting , How many watts is sufficient for my Tank. My one of my friend told me that use pll 4 lights each 36 watts.
I Request you all to provide me your Sufficient Guidance on this..
Sincere Thanks,
Ganesh K |

kindly do not open multiple posts of same topic.
I have deleted all duplicate posts.
What type of setup do you want to keep, low tech, high tech.
What type of plants do you want to grow.
It is quiet a small tank, if the measurement in cms.
A external canister filter will create a tsunami in this tank |

For the aquarium size you have mentioned plus you choosing to add an external filter, i would suggest you go with a pressurized CO2cylinder kit. The reason being, for the aquarium of that size adding an external filter means you are thoroughly stirring the water and at a higher rate too, this will in no time deplete the CO2 to a level that tends to be insufficient for the plant's growth. DIY CO2 would fail to keep up to 30ppm in such case.
And the amount of substrate that goes into your aquarium
=length(in cm) x breadth(in cm) x height to which you wanna fill the substrate(in cm) / 1000
(gives the amount of soil in liters)
and as for lighting, a decent score would be 3 watts per gallon. |

Hi GANESAA and welcome to IAH.
1. it's "Aquascaping" not "Aquaspacing"
2. Are you sure of the tank size ? It's cm or inches ?
3. Selecting pressurized co2 or DIY depends on the plants you plan to grow. |

| ganesha before going to anything i want to tell you, not to buy crystal red shrimp without doing enough reading. Now about the length of your tank i am still not able to make if it is inches or cm. Just read the scale you used...... Because if it is cm it is very small and even if it is inches it will not reach the length of both your hands spread. So o this first home work.... confirm the tank size first |

Hi Ganesha...
You definitely need to know your tank size.... Take inch tape or a ruler and measure it .. as simple as that :)
For your reference ... on a scale you will find two sizes... the below one is inches and the upper one is cm.
There are tones of aquarist in Mumbai. I would recommend you get in touch with someone. They will be able to guide and teach you better.
Just curious... How old are you ? From your post looks like you are a student. |

Please take a scale or measuring tape and give us exact dimensions.
You cannot get proper advice if the size of tank is uncertain.
It can be a 1ft tank or 3ft tank which will make a lot of difference. |

Dear Mr.Abhishek ,Nidhi / All
Thanks you for providing me a SCALE Picture. Its Inches
My Tank size is 31'' Length, 16'' With , 18'' Height.
Kindly provide me, how much substrate needed for this[list]
For lighting , How many watts is sufficient for my Tank. My one of my friend told me that use pll 4 lights each 36 watts.
How frequent need to change the water, I heard that need to change 50% of water twice a week. But when to clean the entire tank with the scrubber.
I just started with my previous less amount ADA sand. with 12 Neons , Presently only 8 Neons are there (Rest of the 4 Neons got pulled by external filter in the Morning) |

You need atleast 1-2 inches of substrate if you plan to grow plants

That depends on what plants you want to grow. First decide on what plants you want to put in. Different plants have different light requirements.

Nope. you need to change 20% water every 15 days. because it seems you have a good filter.

Never ! You should not empty your entire tank. If there is algae growth. just take a scrubber and scrub the side walls.

I would recommend you put a wire mesh/net on the inlet of your filter, if you love your fishes. Also it looks you have a little too powerful filter. |
