yeah  -  have  killed  quite  a  few  different  varieties  over  the  years.  :-)

but  seriously,  rahul  and  nikhil  have  probably  kept  all  the  wilds  between  them.

 Hi  Guys,

Seen  a  wild  Betta  thread  after  sometime.  Nice  to  see  you  Venkat.  Hope  you  are  doing  well.  Sorry  to  say  but  I  have  no  wilds  with  me  anymore.  I  had  lots  but  I  just  found  no  takers  and  slowly  lost  them  over  the  last  3  years  some  due  to  old  age  like  my  Betta  pi  and  the  rest  due  to  just  no  breeding  effort.

I  hope  you  have  read  a  bit  about  the  conditions  these  fish  require  and  the  fact  that  to  appreciate  them  you  will  require  a  species  tank  or  small  tank  mates  from  similar  acidic  &  tanned  waters.  If  you  want  to  know  more  about  husbandry  do  let  me  know  I  can  help  in  whatever  way  possible.

I  would  suggest,  if  you  want  to  start  off,  buy  Betta  imbellis  or  Betta  smaragdina.  As  the  confidence  grows  buy  the  harder  to  keep  fish  &  please  make  sure  you  have  things  like  water  parameters  etc  all  sorted  thats  the  most  important  thing.  Wild  bettas  will  not  require  regular  water  changes  but  maybe  a  water  change  once  in  2-3  weeks  and  a  small  one.  They  like  constant  water  chemistry  &  not  a  fluctuating  one  so  the  water  you  add  should  have  the  same  values  as  the  water  in  the  tank.

I  have  kept  a  few  species  and  they  are  just  fantastic  fish  with  great  personality.

 Hi  Nikhil,
Could  you  post  some  pics  of  your  tank.  Also  what  all  had  you  added  in  in  the  water?

 Hi,

My  Betta  tanks  usually  had  Peat  depending  on  what  environment  the  fish  came  from.  Since  I  never  found  any  Peat  in  India  I  used  ADA's  Malaya  soil  it  brings  the  Ph  down  quite  well.  I  added  some  Badam  leaves  or  Boiled  extract  from  the  leaves  to  Tan  the  aquarium,  A  piece  of  Wood  and  a  air  driven  sponge  filter  slowly  bubbling  away.  Thats  about  it.  If  you  want  to  put  a  layer  of  sand  at  the  bottom  let  it  be  a  fine  sand.  But  for  fish  which  are  ok  with  Neutral  water  I  would  say  try  a  small  Nano  planted  aquarium  that  should  suffice.

hi  nikhil,  i  got  10  wilds   Cheering  ,  5  males  and  5  females  and  2  species,  but  all  mixed   Crying or Very sad   Sad
i  have  kept  all  separately  in  small  tanks  so  they  settle  down  and  can  make  out  which  species  they  are.  I'm  sure  3  males  are  mahachai,  so  released  1  male  in  the  actual  tank  and  showing  full  colors  and  is  defo  a  mahachai,  3  females  are  grayish  and  have  little  green  spots  on  them  and  I'm  quite  sure  they  are  mahachais,  can  you  please  post  some  pics  of  your  mahachai  females?  i  will  let  the  others  settle  and  then  post  the  pics  for  id.
