Hi I am getting some Hygrophila pinnatifida. Has anyone grown this plant attached to wood or rock? The tropica website claims its possible, but never seen any pics of it growing on wood or rock. Thanks

Hey Arjun,
Me too getting some & instead of taking chance i will try to grow them both ways.....i also read at multiple forums and had multiple responses however was not able to see a convincing picture growing it on wood/rock.....

| Im growing mine next to a rock and some of the adventitious roots are clinging to the rock. CAnt say for sure about it growing on rocks from scratch |

Arjun, Binesh: H.Pinnatifida is epiphytic in nature and will attach to rock or wood in time.
But to my knowledge I wouldn't say impossible but it's hard to grown it directly on rock or wood.
From my experience, It requires nutrients rich substrate, good light and Co2 otherwise it tends to melt.
And FYR this link to PDF H. Pinnatifida shows the side shoot from parent clinging to rock.

This growth was on a soft, fibrous material. Have seen it growing submerged around rocks, but not exactly CLINGING to rocks like a fern. |
