 Hi  Friends,

It  is  getting  hot  in  Chennai.  My  tank  touched  30C  today,  I  found  the  plants  are  growing  very  slowly(no  CO2)  in  recent  times,  during  may-june  I  am  expecting  the  temp  should  reach  anywhere  between  35C+  easily.
So,  I  think  either  I  need  to  get  a  chiller  or  sell  my  aquarium  before  my  dear  pets  die!

Recommend  a  basic  model  and  price  for  my  30G(120L),  may  be  in  future  I  would  upgrade  my  tank  to  60G(250L)  max!  I  think  I  need  the  basic  model,  get  this  is  in  another  few  weeks.

I  also  read  in  an  IAH  thread  ,  even  the  chiller  does  need  an  ambient  room  temperature  for  good  performance.  Does  that  mean,  the  chiller  may  not  work  as  expected  at  higher  temperatures(35C>)  ?
Life  time  of  a  chiller?  Can  I  keep  the  chiller  idle  during  winter  season?

 Thanks
 Gokul

 hi  Gokul...

Hailiea  model  start  from  100A  ...means  100L  tank...You  can  go  for  HC-250A  since  you  are  planning  for  an  upgrade  later....but  u  should  have  in  mind  the  flow  rate  required  for  each  model....external  temperature  will  have  some  impact  on  the  time  it  takes  to  cool  the  tank..but  will  be  very  marginal..
coming  to  cost..each  model  just  vary  very  little  upto  HC-300A  model.   I  was  advised  by  many  senior  member  of  IAH  to  go  for  Hailea  as  it  is  a  best  bet  for  the  price   Very Happy

 Regards,
 Senthil

My  approx  calculation  for  hailea  chiller  300a,  around  90-100  units/pm.
Huh.  It's  becoming  an  expensive  hobby,  I'm  sure  my  wife  will  say  not  to  chiller!

@  GokulK...the  chiller  doesn't  make  any  audible  noise  unless  you  stand  next  to  it....u  can  just  hear  the  blower  sound.  electricity  consumption  is  also  very  low...for  300A....hardly  hundred  bucks  diff  in  electricity  bill...you  need  not  run  it  for  round  the  clock..either  have  it  running  while  lights  are  on..or  switch  it  off  in  the  night  and  turn  on  in  the  morning...that's  what  i  do...

Yes  it  is  an  expensive  hobby....as  you  get  more  addicted  day  by  day  Cheer Up
