Yes  thats  a  wave  maker.  The  purpose  was  to  create  some  water  flow   to  prevent  some  browny  stuff  settling  on  the  leaves.  Its  a  cheaper  sunsun  wavemaker.
Specs:  4x2x1.5  ft  tank,  pressurized  co2,  canister  filter  +wavemaker  ,  4xt5ho  lights  with  individual  reflectors,  controsoil  substrate.  The  plants  grew  like  weed  in  my  tank.  At  times  I  feel  they  were  more  vibrant  than  my  marine  tank  Cheer Up

Looks  like  i  found  an  answer  to  the  "mystery  worms/larva"  in  my  empty  tank!!!

its  called  blood  worm!  and  is  the  larva  stage  of  a  fly:  "midge"

pics  looks  damn  familiar  to  the  ones  i  saw  in  my  tank..experts  please  go  through  and  opine  as  according  to  my  research  these  are  actually  fish  food!!  so  no  cause  for  alarm..if  you  all  agree  then  ill  go  ahead  with  planting  else  will  treat  the  tank  to  rid  of  these  larvae..

 awaiting  responses..

these  are  a  few  links  i  saw:

Tank  with  lights  for  the  first  time..3  x  28w  =  84w  T5,  there  is  space  for  one  more  in  the  hood,  what  do  you  guys  think..wont  too  much  light  be  a  botheration  for  the  cichlids?  They  like  moderate  light  conditions  is  wht  I  have  gathered  from  various  forums..

 Hi  Cesar,
You  may  want  to  create  some  triangles  to  create  a  break  in  the  background.
Have  a  look  at  this  article.

 what  an  eventful  week!
 Black  background  :  Done!
 Plants  :  Done!!
 First  fish  :  Done!!!
 First  Spawn  :  Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 hehehe...

added  a  pair  of  Labidochromis  Caeruleus,  one  pair  of  Jewel  Cichlid  (Hemichromis  Guttatus)  and  a  pair  of  what  i  thought  was  Pseudotropheus  Saulosi..

My  LFS  said  he  has  a  mated  pair  of  Jewels  (they  were  not  even  on  the  short  list)  but  i  got  hooked  and  got  them,  then  i  got  the  Labidochromis  Caeruleus  and  then  the  ??  Pseudotropheus  Saulosi..

now  i  need  expert  help  to  id  the   "??"  pair  within  a  day  of  introducing  in  the  tank  the  pale  yellowish  fish  (suspected  female  P  Saulosi)  turned  bright  yellow  with  flared  dorsal  fins  and  started  chasing  everybody  around  ..  even  the  Jewels  (which  are  supposed  to  be  very  aggressive)  were  not  spared..its  coloration  is  nearly  as  intense  as  the  L  Caeruleus!!!  exept  for  faint  darker  vertical  striations.  The  other  (suspected  male  P  Saulosi)  is  still  dull  grayish  with  no  hint  of  blue..

then  over  the  next  2-3  days  everybody  more  or  less  decided  their  areas  (jewels  on  the  left  side  and  the  labs  and  the  ??  pair  took  to  sticking  together  on  the  right  side)

today  i  noticed  the  male  jewel  doing  sorta  somersaults  near  the  back  of  the  tank..closer  inspection  reveals  rock  face  completely  covered  by  eggs  and  the  male  fanning  the  eggs..they  both  take  turns  to  fan  the  eggs  and  the  other  one  patrols  nearby  keeping  the  other  fish  out!!  its  so  fascinating  to  watch..

now  what  to  do?  is  it  ok  to  leave  everything  as  it  is  because  its  very  lightly  stocked  presently  and  hence  hopefully  the  jewels  will  be  able  to  defend  the  eggs  and  fry?

as  is  evident  from  the  video  i  have  very  ugly  stains  on  the  inside  of  the  glass  (water  stains),  tried  scrubbing  them  with  scotch  brite..cleaned  to  large  extent  but  left  scratches  on  the  glass,  hence  dropped,  cloth,  micro  fiber  cloth  not  effective..need  suggestions

will  be  adding  a  video  of  the  Jewels  with  their  eggs  shortly..

The  jewels  had  just  spawned  so  they  were  being  protective  of  their  territory..and  one  ??  fish  the  yellow  with  the  darker  vertical  bars  is  generally  being  very  aggressive  towards  the  jewels.
Can  you  identify  the  fish  for  me  please  i  have  a  pair  of  jewels  and  a  pair  of  labidochromis  caeruleus  i  need  help  to  identify  the  other  two  fish..thanx

here  is  a  video  of  the  jewels  with  their  eggs  http://youtu.be/3LsSjimwsaw

The  eggs  have  been  moved  to  a  different  area  (near  the  base  of  a  plant)  and  they  all  are  wriggling!!!  already  looks  like  i  gonna  be  having  free  swimming  fry  in  two  days..should  i  return  the  other  fish  to  protect  the  fry..till  now  both  the  parents  have  established  a  solid  "no  swim  zone"  over  "their"  nearly  1/3  of  the  tank..

 Nice  talking  to  you  too.....

It  seems  that  you  have  brought  these  rocks  from  Naya  Raipur....

These  days  I'm  having  many  trips  to  Champaranya  and  Rajim,  I  also  have  thought  to  to  bring  these  Murrum  (laterite)  rocks!  They  give  nice  feel  to  Aquarium.
