Hi,  was  using  a  SUNSUN  HW303A  external  canister  filter  for  my  3  feet  planted  tank.
I  usually  clean  the  media  only  once  a  month.  But  this  time,  water  is  leaking  from  between  the  lid  and  the  bottom.  My  friend  who  sold  me  the  filter  says  it  could  be  a  problem  with  the  O  ring  which  looks  like  a  pink  tubing.  Will  replacing  this  solve  my  issue?

I  am  unhappy  with  the  build  quality  overall.  If  I  need  to  change  my  filter,  what  would  be  an  economical  but  robust  filter  for  a  3  feet  tank.

Ehiem  or  Fluval  ,  both  have  a  warranty  for  2  years!  Replacing  the  O-ring  should  help.

I  agree  with  Shelly!  The  apparent  cost  is  a  bit  high.  But  it  will  last!  Mine  (2217)  is  running  for  abt  8mths.  Its  whisper  quiet  and  the  build  quality  is  very  good.  You  may  have  to  hunt  around  as  with  this  hobby  prices  are  largely  unregulated   Sad  .  I  got  a  recent  quote  of  7***  in  mumbai  with  the  media  included.  Also  pls  chk  the  bottom  inlet  connection  I  feel  it  protudes  out  and  is  prone  to  physical  damage.

 Thanks  for  the  suggestions.
Josyjames  :  Eheim  2217  will  be  my  first  choice.
Meanwhile  will  try  replacing  the  O  ring.  Can  use  the  Sunsun  as  a  backup.

You  can  enquire  about   this  O  ring  from  the  submersible  pumpset  dealer  or  seller.

my  1st  preference  is  always  for  EHEIM  and  last  preference  is  for  any  Chinese  make.

I  have  used  Ehiem,  Fluval  &  Rena..  and  all  of  them  works  fine  and  never  experienced  problem  with  them.

here  are  the  overviews  of  all  three,  hope  it  helps  to  select  your  filter.

An  overview  of  Eheim  Classic  canister  filters
An  Overview  of  Rena  XP  Filstar  Filters  for  Aquariums
An  overview  of  Hagen  Fluval  05  series  canister  filters

 Good  Luck
