This  could  be  mainly  due  to  irregular  water  changes  due  to  which  there  may  be  a  builup  in  waste. It  could  also  be  a  parasitic  problem  like  Ichthyophonus.Popeye  can  be  cured  by  quarantining  it  in  a  tank  and  using  some  bacteria  treating  medicine  such  as  tetracycline. The  disease  is  usually  not  fatal  and  can  be  cured  in  10  days.

 don't  panic  blackghost,
this  is  a  very  easy  problem  to  get  rid  of,  first  do  a  good  water  change  then  use  a  anti  bacterial  remedy,  like  has  been  said  it  should  be  gone  in  less  than  two  weeks.

 Hi
Pop  eye  is  normally  due  to  build  up  of  pollutants  in  the  tank  and  is  symtompatic  of  improper  water  quality.
Transfer  fish  to  a  quarantine  tank  or  plastic  bucket,  a  tank  is  better  as  you  can  see  the  fish.
Put  a  airstone  in  the  tank,  put  some  salt  and  transfer  the  fish.  If  the  swelling  does  not  subside,  start  antibiotic  treatment  with  tetramycin.

If  only  one  eye  is  swollen  it  may  be  due  to  injury,  in  which  case  it  will  resolve  without  any  treatment.  Worst  case  scenario  will  be  loss  of  the  affected  eye. This  wont  effect  the  lifespan  of  the  fish  in  an  aquarium  without  predators.
In  cases  were  there  is  a   disease  process  or  bad  water  parameters  popeye  is  usually  bilateral(both  eyes).  IMO,  at  this  point  just  isolate  the  fish  in  a  quarantine  tank,  add  a  little  aq.salt,  or  rock  salt  to  brackish  water  levels  (  mollies  can  tolerate  salt  very  well)  and  observe  it.
No  need  to  add  any  antibiotics  now.

P.S  -  This  article  is  quite  good  :

tnks  a  lot  its  been  a  few  days  since  ive  put  the  molly  in  a  quaratine  tank  with  rock  salt...
how  long  will  it  take  for  the  eye  to  heal?
also  do  i  need  to  make  water  changes  and  adding  salt  or  is  a  one  time  addition  enough?

Water  changes  are  required  whether  it  is  main  tank  or  quarantine  tank.
Do  small  frequent  changes,  add  salt  at  each  change.
Good  aeration  is  a  must,  feed  lightly.
