There  is  vallisneria  too  and  it  is  showing  signs  of  melting,  perhaps  due  to  seachem  excel.  Hope  it  comes  back.
Fauna  includes  3  assassin  snails,  2  clown  loaches,  a  Senegal  bichir  and  2  small  plecos  which  I  want  to  remove  once  I  get  Siamese  algae  eater.
I  hope  this  sttempt  would  succeed  as  it  is  already  2  weeks  and  except  vallisneria,  others  seem  to  be  doing  well.  Even  the  swords  are  coming  back  with  green  leaves  as  I  cut  off  the  BBA  covered  leaves.  Any  suggestions  or  corrections  which  I  can  make  to  taste  success  this  time  around?

 Hello,

Not  able  to  view  the  pics.  Can  you  share  the  link  to  your  web  album?  Nice  livestock  you  got  there,  but  the  small  pleco  would  feast  on  your  plants.   Smile

Maybe  more  experts  can  guide  you  further.

 Cheers,

 Karthik

Just  dont  worry,  keep  your  basics  right,  use  the  right  amount  of  light  if  possible,  check  the  CO2  and  ferts.
My  current  tank  was  infested  like  anything  at  the  beginning  because  of  my  fluctuating  DIY  CO2  and  was  tired  with  it  until  I  decided  to  go  with  pressurized  setup.  Once  installed  I  am  having  a  peace  of  mind  with  my  tank  and  I  am  growing  plants  which  I  never  thought  of  growing  like  rotala  macrandra  etc
I  found  excel  is  a  great  in  controlling  the  infestation  at  the  beginning.
All  the  best,  post  some  FTS  with  proper  links

had  an  Algae  struck  tank  co2  collapse  +  direct  sunlight  from  the  west  (  left  glass  pane).

I  take  your  point,  but  machinery  will  be  hidden  once  the  plants  grow  taller.  This  time  my  priority  was  health  of  plants  and  no  algae,  especially  the  BBA  and  so  I  have  been  watching  the  plants  very  closely.  Even  then  I  feel,  Vallisneria  was  a  wrong  choice  given  the  effect  seachem  excel  has  on  it.

Hygrohilla  aricuata,  Hygrophilla  difformis,  hydrilla,  green  foxtail  (Cutleaf  Watermilfoil),  aquatic  mint  ...all  grow  tall.  amazon  swords  all  have  a  good  coverage  area.  So,  if  things  fall  in  place,  I  hope  machinery  will  disappear  with  this  setup.  Moreover,  I  just  got  my  semi  DIY  timer  up  and  running.  Now  that  should  take  care  of  photo  period  and  algae!

Can  you  please  id  this  plant?  https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Q6aRaz01xfo/UqDazr7GtPI/AAAAAAAAAHo/eqd1htkK7uM/s512/DSC_5889.JPG

I  bought  it  because  of  its  colour  and  since  it  was  doing  well  in  the  shop  without  rich  substrate  and  with  low  light.

Its  rotala  macrandra,  I  had  it  earlier  as  a  center  show  piece.  It  grew  well  for  3  months  but  later  died  down.  Now  again  if  I  get  a  few  shoots  I  will  plant  it  .

As  suggested  by  other  senior  members  and  few  of  my  old  IAH  friends,  please  clean  the  glass,  keep  a  nice  backgroound  (please  dont  use  those  plants  or  under  sea  printed  ones)  try  to  pick  some  single  color  where  your  tank  is  showing  its  true  design.
