 Guys,
I  am  baffled  by  the  way  my  tank  gets  empty  every  time.  Its  a  6KG  tank  and  I  was  using  a  solenoid(  conked  out  2  days  back)  and  I  don't  supply  co2  for  the  period  of  6  hours/day  but  my  tank  finishes  by  2  months  the  most.  my  bps  is  almost  4  bubbles  per  second.  So  it  makes  me  wonder  of  my  setup  have  a  leak?  How  you  guys  check  the  leak?  I  tried  with  soap  solution  and  couldn't  find  any,  ofcoz  I  left  of  the  part  of  solenoid  for  the  soap  test  as  I  didn't  wanted  to  risk  solenoid  getting  short  circuit.  Your  experience  and  suggestions  will  be  a  great  help  for  me  as  I  have  few  days  to  get  tank  refilled  and  to  get  a  new  solenoid.

 thanks  &  regards

Check  whether  the  filler  is  filling  properly.  My  2  kg  cylinder  with  2  bps  for  8  hours/  day  is  still  running  even  after  6  months.

yes  abhi,  I  was  initially  thinking  that,  then  I  started  weighing  the  cylinder  after  filling  up  to  make  sure  the  filling  is  done  properly.

I  invert  the  cylinder  and  immerse  the  complete  regulator  setup  into  a  big  bucket  of  water.

For  solenoid,  you  can  remove  only  the  coil  from  the  solenoid  body.  I  remove  the  coil  and  immerse  the  complete  setup  into  the  water.  I  have  noticed  leakage  from  the  reading  gauge  in  my  eagle  regulator.  I  removed  both  the  gauges  from  the  regulator  body  and  tightened  it  back  after  rotating  the  teflon  tape.

The  method  given  by  shelly  is  the  best  way,  mine  was  leaking  very  slowly  and  the  usual  soap  solution  mehtod  was  not  able  to  find  the  leak,  I  inverted  and  dunked  the  whole  thing  in  water,  and  found  the  leak.
I  have  a  similar  sized  clyinder  and  it  is  used  in  a  45  g  plated  tank,  it  runs  for  about  5-6  months.

Thanks  shelly  for  that  idea,  even  I  have  an  eagle  regulator  and  co2  was  leaking  from  its  outside  pressure  reading  gauge  and  I  did  same  thing,  tighten  with  teflon  tape.

thank  you  sandeep  sir,  will  do  as  suggested  by  shelly,  I  am  now  sure  my  tank  was  leaking.  But  1  doubt  regarding  submerging  the  whole  regulator  by  dipping  it  in  bucket,  wont  the  liquid  co2  damage  the  regulator  in  this  case?  because  I  read  somewhere  flow  of  liquid  co2  can  damage  the  regulator,  so  I  am  asking.

 thanks  &  regards

You  would  be  immersing  the  regulator  setup  in  a  bucket  of  water..  So  where  are  you  referring  to  liquid  CO2.

Initially  when  you  immerse  the  regulator  setup,  it  would  get  filled  with  water.  If  the  gauges  are  sealed  properly,  then  water  wont  enter  the  gauge.  If  it  does  also,  does  not  matter.  As  the  regulator  is  usually  made  up  of  brass  or  steel.  So  there  shouldnt  be  any  issue  in  immersing  the  setup  into  a  bucket  of  water.

Even  if  you  immerse  the  regulator  into  the  water,  the  content  inside  the  cylinder  is  in  gaseous  form.  So  there  wont  be  any  issues.

shelly  I  was  referring  to  "invert  the  cylinder  and  immerse  the  complete  regulator  setup  into  a  big  bucket  of  water"  in  your  previous  post  and  I  thought  if  I  invert  the  cylinder  and  try  to  submerge  the  setup  wont  the  liquid  co2  flow  into  the  regulator?
or  I  had  got  it  all  wrong?
Are  you  referring  to  submerge  only  the  regulator  setup  by  sealing  it  to  see  if  any  water  is  going  inside?

I  just  spray  soap  water  in  every  joints  using  a  old  sprayer.

My  4.5  KG  lasts  for  about  1  year  with  70bubbles  per  minute.
