 Friends,

Have  algae  issue  in  my  tank.  Could  see  lot  of  them  on  the  drift  wood,  plant  leaves  and  rocks.  Should  I  go  for  API  Algae  Fix  or  not.  The  aquarium  guy  warned  me  that  it  may  cause  side  effects,  but  he  was  not  sure.  Request  to  share  your  experience.

 Thanks,
 Arun

 Hi  Arun,
posting  more  info  regarding  your  tank  would  be  a  great  help  for  those  who  wanted  to  help
info  like  tank  size,  filtration,  bio  load,  water  change  routine,  fertilization  and  above  all  lighting  details  and  duration  etc

I  see,  but  why  should  I  have  to  run  CO2  24x7.  Will  it  not  make  fishes  uncomfortable.

Look  at  root  cause  of  the  algae  and  try  to  eliminate  it  or  do  temporary  solution  but  that  will  not  help  you  as  algae  will  come  back   again.

To  me  the  root  cause  seems  to  be  excess  feeding,  extended  light  time.  Will  try  reduce  those  first.  But  then  what  will  happen  to  the  algae  already  existing.  I  would  like  to  eliminate  them  as  well.  API  algae  fix  has  mixed  reviews,  some  feel  it  is  dangerous  to  the  fishes.

I  dont  have  any  experience  with  any  algae  removing  chemicals  ,  my  suggestion  based  on  my  experience  will  be  to  use  Seachem  Excel,  which  I  found  removing  algae  as  great  side  effect  of  using  it  though  intended  use  of  Excel  is  as  a  carbon  supplement.

 Regards
 dotfish

PS:  my  suggestion  comes  with  warning  for  over  dosing!  Dont  over  dose!
