Yes  they  do....that's  why  your  tank  need  a  proper  cover.

 Ah  yes,  Norman's  Lampeye  Killifish.

Have  them  in  my  present  100L  community  tank.  Got  a  shoal  of  15.  Now  only  9  remaining.  In  my  tank  they  tend  to  develop  cysts  around  their  gills  and  die.  Not  able  to  pin-point  the  disease  (Ichthyosporidium  perhaps?).  I  do  regular  bi-weekly  20%  water  changes,  all  other  fish  (cardinals,  cherry  barbs  are  fine)

Other  than  that  these  are  great  fish.  Need  a  good  number  of  them  not  to  feel  shy.  My  15  cardinals  are  much  more  shy  than  them.  Since  introducing  these  the  cardinals  come  out  of  the  plantation  more  often.

To  get  full  effect  of  their  "glowing  lamp  eyes"  you  need  to  view  them  from  above  at  an  angle  of  about  minus  30  degrees.  Their  eyes  don't  glow  if  you  look  at  them  at  parallel  or  from  below  -  making  them  look  like  pale  wild  fish.

Haven't  experienced  jumpers.  For  me  they  are  extroverts.  I  guess  having  a  heavily  planted  tank  with  ample  of  hiding  places  is  the  reason.

My  friend  also  has  them  in  his  lidless  50L  planted  tank  (keeps  with  shrimp  and  galaxy  rasboras).  No  jumpers  (even  on  switching  on  lights).  No  casualties  like  mine  either.  They  have  in  fact  reproduced  in  his  tank.

His  tank  is  at  a  lower  eye  level.  And  there  is  a  tube  light  right  above  the  tank.  So  when  the  aquarium  lights  are  off  and  the  tube  light  only  hits  the  surface  -  then  their  eyes  really  light  up  from  the  viewing  angle.  Absolutely  brilliant.  At  that  time  you  really  appreciate  their  name.  And  the  effect  of  his  shoal  of  10  is  really  stunning.

In  a  nutshell,  they  are  great  fish.  My  experience  says  they  don't  jump  in  tanks  where  they  have  the  option  to  hide.  But  go  lidless  at  your  own  risk.

I  have  them  in  open  tank  and  from  my  experience,  they  are  not  shy  and  have  not  jumped  out.
