Successful  and  sustainable.  Requires  regular  water  changes  though!

 Sir,  where  are  you  located?
In  my  experience  over  the  years  it's  really  difficult  to  have  a  system  small  or  big  without  a  skimmer  or   ATS  or  other  methods  which  are  viable  options.  Plainly  dependent  on  lr  put  challenges  to  you  in  terms  of  nitrification  and  denitrification.  It  directly  affects  on  the  type  of  lr  you  have,  I  mean  the  quality.  If  you  have  seen  dead  pukani  rocks  they  are  the  most  porous  a  lr  could  ever  be.  And  the  ones  from  Fiji  origin.  The  lr  that  you  get  here  locally  in  India  has  to  be  of  good  quality  and  cycled  thoroughly  and  put  in  double  quantity  of  general  recommendations.  I  have  experienced  the  best  and  the  worst.  And  to  this  hobby  what  works  good  for  you  won't  necessary  would  go  good  with  others.  How  would  you  assume  in  a  constrained  environment  the  process  and  time  of  nitrification  talking  in  especially  nano  environments.  The  point  is  to  have  a  successful  environment  where  the  fishes  are  healthy  and  you  are  being  able  to  sustain  it.  Regular  water  changes  are  necessary  inorder  to  replenish  the  essential  minerals.  In  my  practices  I  have  had  aquariums  wherin  I  did  not  do  any  changes  up  to  many  months.  But  every  aquarium  is  unique  and  it  poses  certain  challenges  to  thrive.  It's  all  about  willing  to  experiment  under  control,  openness  to  learn  and  incorporate  new  things   to  move  forward  with  the  hobby.

 Hey  Friend
 don't  be  angry
my   intention  is  to  know  what  you  are  trying  to  establish
if  you  don't  mind  what  the  water  parameters  measured  before  w.c.
If  your  system  stays  good  one  can  follow  that

Marine  fish  keeping/Reefing  is  simple,  it  appears  complex  due  to  lack  of  understanding.  Each  and  every  tank  is  different  and  the  keeper  has  to  see  what  works  best  for  them.
