Lab  grade  is  usually  99%  pure.
Fertilizer  can  be  any  where  from  60%  to  90%  pure.  For  planted  tanks  with  EI  dosing  I  have  never  had  issues  with  farm  fertilizers  used  in  drip  irrigation.
I  use  the  fertilizers  locally  available.  Its  a  lot  cheaper  too.

 @DRJALLI,

Why  are  you  dosing  Calcium  nitrate  &  magnesium  sulphate???

Also  you  might  not  be  getting  the  same  brand  is  all  places.  Each  state  might  have  different  companies  manufacturing  agricultural  fertilizers.  So  just  check  what  is  the  composition  and  percentage  of  each  chemical  and  then  use  it.

 Hi  shelly,
I  ve  lot  of  snails  in  my  tank.  In  order  to  maintain  some  water  hardnes,  I  use  calcium  n  magnesium  in  the  form  of  calcium  nitrate  n  magnesium  sulphate.
These  ferts  not  only  help  snails,  but  also  plants.

Yes,  u  r  absolutely  correct.  Every  fertiliser  company  has  these  foliar  grade  ferts  with  diff  brand  names.  Sorry  I  didn't  post  the  concentrations  in  previous  post.

 Thank  u
 regards
 Dr.  Jalli

 Hi  Dr.  Jalli,

Could  you  please  provide  some  information  on  how  water  hardness  is  related  to  the  snail  prevention?  Its  the  first  time  am  hearing  about  controlling  snails  by  maintaining  the  water  hardness.  You  mean  to  say  if  the  water  hardness  is  high,  snails  cannot  survive?

It  would  be  help  full  if  you  can  share  your  current  tank  size  and  how  you  dose.

 Thanks  in  Advance.

 Hi  shelly,
I  never  said  that  I'm  controlling  snail  population  by  increasing  the  water  hardness.  But  I  meant  to  say  that,  I'm  increasing  the  water  hardness  in  order  to  breed  assassin  snails.  As  we  all  know  that,  snails  need  some  calcium  n  magnesium  to  b  in  good  health  as  well  as  to  breed.

 Regards.

 Hi  DRJALLI,

We  all  have  bred  assassin  snails  with  out  any  addition  of  ferts  and  in  various  kinda  of  setups;  soft  water,  nuteral,  hard.

What  kinda  setup  do  you  have;  is  ti  snail  only  setup,  planted  tank  etc.

Smile   ok.   I  keep  trying  some  new  things..  Smile  .  I  find  water  in  my  place  to  b  soft.  So  I  do  it.  It  is  a  planted  tank  with  Shrimps  n  snails  With  few  fish.

Surya,  I  may  b  wrong  but  it's  working.

Next,  I'm  thinking  to  keep  a  small  piece  of  lime  stone  instead  of  these  ferts.

   regards.
