Dear Da_vipin,
Excellent job fighting algae and coming out victorious.
The tank is looking very elegant.
I would keep an eye out on the hydrocotyle. It can take over a tank fast.
On the flip side, you can train it to climb up the tree!
You should also trim the bad leaf on the anubias. It'll not grow back.
But trimming it will encourage the plant to throw a couple of new leaves faster.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks,
Arin |

Thanks guys , i took below steps to tackle algae issues;
1) Surface Scum: I experienced that leaving surface scum unattended boosts thread algae. So bought a surface skimmer and directed filter outlet towards surface to create some agitation. Result: No Scum Buildup, no trapped bubbles, better light penetration
2) Spot treatment with hydrogen peroxide: Used syringe to squirt H2O2 directly on effected areas. Followed by 50% water change after 30 mins. Note that I did not exceed dosage of 0.5 ml per gallon. Treated twice in a week. Result: Algae became pale and new growth persisted but was slower.
3) The mighty Pleco : Though i had amano shrimps they were not able to keep up with maintenance work. So bought a smallest pleco I could find at LFS. This guy is such a perfectionist who doesnt like to leave behind tiniest speck of algae! I no longer have cravings for expensive and fancy algae eaters Get a Pleco. Respect!
@Arin: Yes hydrocotyle is turning out to be invasive. Will nip off bad leaf of anubias soon. Thanks |

I fully subscribe to point number 2 & 3. As i had similar experience in the past. The young common pleco or even chinese (or golden ) algae eaters are pretty effective.
Surface Scum is an interesting observation. I should try that. |

Hi All!
The old scape was ruined due to irregular maintenance and I was lazy to get the CO2 cylinder refilled.
Have installed quick disconnect valves for filters to reduce the hassle in filter maintenance.
Now with automation in place I'm hoping that I have to bother with the tank only once in a week for water changes and maintenance. Dosing, CO2, Lights, Cooling Fan, Feeding is all taken care by automation: http://indianaquariumhobbyist.com/community/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=39888
Updates after 40 days of rescape
Red, Cyan & Blue led channel were kept off for photographing, it gave some weird White Balance.
Thanks for watching! |
