Shrimps  will  eat  other  dead  shrimp.  If  they  died  and  got  stuck  between  plants  the  other  shrimps  will  eat  them  whole  in  a  few  days...  you  wont  find  any  of  them.  Any  other  fish  in  the  tank?

 +1  Preetham,

IME,  shrimps  are  especially  vulnerable  when  they  molt.  I  have  lost  many  of  my  cherry  shrimps  when  I  had  them  with  neon  tetras  and  fancy  guppies.  Personally,  I've  never  seen  any  of  the  fish  bother  them,  but  I  wonder  what  happened  after  lights  out.  Even  a  curious  fish  can  alarm  them  enough  to  jump  to  their  deaths.  Amanos  though  larger  in  size,  might  have  the  same  vulnerabilities.

Even  when  I  had  them  in  a  separate  tank,  I  did  the  blunder  of  introducing  assassin  snails  to  get  rid  of  some  pond  snails,  and  slowly  my  shrimp  numbers  started  going  down  Sad

Amanos  walk,  I  learnt  it  the  hard  way.  In  a  new  tank  they  tend  to  get  out  if  the  water  level  is  high  and  they  find  something  to  climb  onto  like  wood.  I  found  most  of  mine  all  over  the  house,  thankfully  alive  Very Happy

Please  install  signboards  directing  them  to  tank  please.  They  go  out  for  a  walk  and  cant  figure  out  their  way  back  :D

Also  check  if  you  are  dosing  something  which  is  causing  shrimp  loss.  Shrimps  tend  to  lose  color  in  new  tank  until  settled  and  camouflage  in  to  the  plants  sometimes  making  us  believe  they  are  disappeared,

Not  really  Smile,  except  oto  cats  I  don't  trust  any  other  algae  eaters

But  in  this  case  though  I  doubt  your  water  parameters  than  fishes.

Dead  matter  tend  to  increase  nitrate  ammonia  levels  drastically,  It's  better  to  remove  dead  shrimps  and  fishes.
Check  for  NO2,  NO3  and  NH4  if  those  are  high  it  can  be  fatal  for  shrimps  but  most  fishes  can  be  a  bit  hardy.

Other  case  may  be  accidental  contamination.  I  recieved  hc  mat  once  and  thought  of  planting  it  the  next  day,  so  floated  it  on  my  4  footer  to  see  nearly  1000's  of  dead  cherry  shrimps  the  next  day.  The  farm  from  which  I  bought  the  hc  tend  to  use  ferts  that  are  rich  in  Cu  which  I  came  to  learn  the  hard  way.
