I am using 15" x 15" tank with SUNSUN HBL-302 Hang on filter and top mounted lighting
I have the substrate and gravel in the tank
4 Serpae Tetras
I had the carpet like plan (sourced from a local pet shop) which grew messy
I removed the plant and changed water.
Now the filter running and fish is fine. However I the water flow is not happening correctly. I suspect its the filter,
I am rebuilding the setup with the existing tank.
Kindly suggest on
Better filter ?
Plants that I can introduce ?
Small sized fish I can add ?
I am in Bangalore north. Any places I can buy these items ?

Assuming it is a low tech setup, please correct me if you are having CO2 or planning to add pressurised or DIY CO2 for the revamp?
What lights you are having?
You have mentioned substrate and gravel, what type of substrate are you using.
These information determine what type of plants you can keep. HOB filters are good enough for planted setups. Or you can go for canister filters, but I don't have exp with them.
15'' cube setup or what's the depth of the tank?
If you want fish for planted setup, then you have a variety of tetras, danios, rasboras, smaller rainbows and/or algae eaters and shrimps you can keep.

Hi Sudhir,
If I am not wrong, all the plants do not need CO2. If that is the case, I will not have CO2. If required, I will do a DIY CO2 reactor - Please correct me.
I am using CONTRO SOIL as substrate
The out flow of the current filter is not really good so as the suction
Size: 15" cube

You are right, all plants don't need injected CO2. I have been running a low tech planted tank for the last one year.
Means no CO2 injection, decent amount of light - LED strip light, weekly water changes and dosing excel, macros and micros in half of recommended dosages.
Its been working decent so far.
Plants I have had good experience: Bacopa monnieri, Hygrophila corymbosa (both stem plants and background plants).
Foreground carpet Sagittaria subulata has given me good results, but with root tabs and lots of patience.
Plants like Moss and Anubias and Java fern are expected to do well in a low tech tank, I am just starting out on them.
In a low tech you will have little bit of algae, use algae eaters to keep them in check till the system matures.

Thank you Sudhir. After I removed plants from my tank, its been running with few Serpae Tetras. I am planning to have a low tech tank.
I will try to buy the plants that you have mentioned and see how it works.
