Where  are  live  worms  regularly  available  in  Bangalore  .  All  the  LFS  have  it  on  and  off  (mostly  off).  I  cannot  culture  them  and  I  cannot  store  frozen  worms  in  my  freezer  because  my  wife  won't  let  me  Sad.

Feeding  with  freeze  dried  worms  make  the  water  dirty  too  soon.  I  currently  do  a  75%  water  change  weekly  and  it  would  be  tough  for  me  to  do  one  more  Sad.

Sriram,  What  you  need  is  networking  with  other  aquarists  not  with  LFS.
So  if  one  finds  live  tubifex  worms  in  one  part  of  the  city  he  picks  up  some  for  the  other.
Some  of  us  like  Nayak  and  myself  have  fish  that  will  touch  nothing  but  live  food.

We  also  use  to  get  live  blood  worms  every  Sunday  morning  from  Chennai  and  four  of  us  share  and  take  turns  to  pick  up  the  stuff  from  Kalasipalam.

For  a  start  it  would  help  if  you  could  fill  up  your  profile  and  give  your  mobile  number.

 Hi  Sriram,

What  fishes  do  you  have  and  why  75%  water  change  weekly?

 Nayak.

 Hi  trevor,
Thanks  I  will  update  the  profile  with  my  wife's  mobile  number  (I  don't  have  one).  When  you  say  pick  worms  from  one  part  of  the  city,  do  you  mean  collect  them  from  wild  ??
Nayak,  I  have  african  cichlids  and  75%  water  change  because  I  have  stocked  them  pretty  heavily  to  diffuse  aggression.

Sriram  do  not  update  your  profile  with  your  wife's  Mobile  Number.  It  is  not  prudent  to  reveal  too  many  personal  details  on  the  internet  which  is  a  public  domain,  especially  when  a  lady  is  involved.

 HI  Sriram,

Try  Gulmarg(Jayanagar),  you  should  be  able  to  find  live  worms  out  there.

 Regards,
 Surya

I  dont  think  you  can  pick  up  wild  live  worms  from  anywhere  in  Bangalore...  Trevor  is  our  only  hope  as  none  of  the  LFSs  (and  I  even  checked  places  like  Zooland  near  the  beef  market)  stock  live  worms..  I  really  dont  understand  why  a  product  is  not  availble  eventhough  there  is  a  demand  for  it..  Starter  cultures  for  live  food  are  not  available  either..

Tubifex  worms  are  collected  from  the  drain  near  Kissan  Jam  factory  in  Bangalore  for  supply  to  fish  shops  near  Bangalore.

During  the  rainy  season  these  worms  are  washed  away  and  there  is  nothing  to  collect.
During  the  very  dry  season  again  there  is  very  little  to  collect.

No  one  cultures  these  worms  for  aquarium  use.  That  is  why  you  will  not  get  these  foods  throughout  the  year.

I  went  to  Adip's  home  recently  on  Bannerghatta  road  (near  Adigas)  but  looks  like  he  does  not  live  there  anymore.  The  house  was  locked  and  there  were  no  aquariums  in  his  balcony.  Anybody  know  where  he  lives  now  ?
