 Guys,

Has  any  one  tried  feeding  Mysis  Shrimps  to  chiclids  and  other  fishes.  How  is  it  when  compared  to  Blood  Worms.  I  have  heard  a  lot  about  them  in  other  forums.  Has  anyone  tried  them  here  in  India.

 Regards,

 Sridhar.P

Mysids  are  great  for  fish  that  will  eat  them.

They  are  always  a  better  option  when  compared  to  any  worms,  though  I  did  not  tried  them  but  heard  that  they  are  good  source  of  nutrients  for  the  fishes.

I  have  fed  my  fish  frozen  mysis  shrimp  yesterday.  Everyone  of  them  made  short  work  of  the  mysis.

Nothing  left  in  the  tank  in  a  few  minutes.

As  for  results,  it  should  be  good,  comparison  with  frozen  blood  worms  or  frozen  brine  shrimp,  too  early  to  tell.

Raghu  I  don't  sell  plants,  fish,  food  or  any  other  material  equipment,  nor  do  I  keep  anything  for  sale  regularly.

Once  in  a  while  I  might  have  something  for  sale,  but  that  is  usually  restricted  to  mass  pre  order  items  only  as  part  of  IAH  activities.

As  for  Mysis  Shrimp  my  3  years  effort  to  get  them  for  myself  finally  succeeded.

 Oh!!!!  Master

"I  ment  any  thing  for  sharing".  Sorry  for  mis-spelling  that.

 I  know  it,

If  the  order  is  in  excess  that  i  can  pick  up  i  mean  i  do  not  mind  picking  it  up.

 Regards
 Raghu

Where  are  these  available  locally  and  what  is  the  colloquial  name?
 BTW,  I'm  in  Mumbai.

Also  when  you  say  "fresh"  -  I  am  assuming  you  mean  recently  deceased  or  do  you  mean  to  say  that  you  can  actually  buy  them  alive?

 Regards,
 Venkat

Rahul,  Not  in  Bangalore  to  my  knowledge.  And  I  cannot  process  it.  chop  it,  blend  it,   even  if  I  did  find  it.

I  cannot  find  bite  sized  mysids  anywhere  around  here.

In  Kerala,  you  get  them  under  the  name  of  "kooni  podi".  Mix  of  mysids  and  small  shrimp.  Fresh,  as  in  caught  a  few  hours  before  sale.  Mysids  are  fairly  abundant  in  estuarine  and  coastal  areas,  so  obtaining  live  ones  should  not  be  a  problem  either.  Shankar?

One  of  the  fish  exporters  in  Calcutta  used  to  offer  live  mysids  for  sale  a  few  years  ago.  I  don't  know  if  he  still  is  in  business.

No  need  to  process  them,  just  sort  by  size  using  nets  or  sieves  Very Happy
