Thanks for your inputs, friends.
I feel crossbreeding, feeding hormone-based food and dying are different issues which shouldnt be mixed up. We are talking about the second point here.
I agree the colors and hump depend a lot on the strain. The diet can only enhance the properties of a particular strain.
Nitin, I will definitely try out Chingmix, which I need to get from US.
Manmathan, if that story of FHs in temple pond is true, its really horrific and a sign of irresponsible aquarist. Such species will destroy the local ecosystems. |

I bought the FH at 2' of size and was feeding tetrabits/Red excel/Fish pellets/Chicken heart. He was having good kok and belly i full of pink colour. very very active fish i hav ever seen. never fought wid my oscars n parrots , redtailcatfish when living wid them. than i introduce him in his new home. he was feeling not secure n well there. ony day he jumped over the tank from small hole of hood.
but giys, within 5 months, his tails were long and sharp and humpy head and variant colour. And i bought him @ Rs 150 only. |

Put up a new post and ask your question on deworming. Why are you hijacking "Humpy head for flowerhorn"??? |

I had mentioned it earlier in this same post as 'a school of FH'. School here means a group of Flower Horn. I saw these FH's in a temple pond in a place called Thiruvantharai near Trichy- 20kms from Trichy. This temple is claimed to be 1500 years old and neatly maintained. Check out the temple pond if anyone goes there.

I have an imported pearl spot FH now but I am looking forward to buy one more of a better strain and yeah I do believe that the food has very little to do with the features but it can't be ignored at all |

To whoever using Humpy Head or similar products, I request u to use it sparingly, as there are reports from various hardcore FH enthusiasts that feeding such foods daily is not good for the fish in long run. |

Agree.
Even it not good for us also to have same food daily which we eat @ our home. If we need diffrent food to eat then why not our pets. We should provide them various & mixed type of diet. |
