 These  guys  are  quite  commonly  available  at  lfs  here  in  Chennai  but,  has  anybody  come  across  the  "more"  orange  tank  bred  ones  like  in  this  link  here  http://www.altum.com.ua/images/etropl_2.jpg

 Venket  used  to  keep  them  around  10-12  years  back.  They  used  to  be  called  Tangerine  chromide!

 A  decade  ago  Crying or Very sad  they  look  quite  stunning  but,  i  guess  the  wild  ones  are  as  good...its  the  poor  mans  banded  chromide  Chuckle

 So,  could  it  be  that  breeders  have  found  the  hormone  and  promoted  it  in  this  aquarium  strain  ?
   Just  like  the  way  they've  done  for  our  "rosy  barbs",  which  are  a  nice  "green"  normally  and  turn  reddish  when  ready  to  breed.

 They  just  selected  fish  that  naturally  had  more  orange  and  line  bred  them.  You'll  find  that  fish  from  different  parts  of  India  have  different  base  colours.  Populations  around  Tirvandrum  are  quite  dull  (grey  and  yellow),  ones  from  around  Madras  are  more  orangey,  males  often  have  deep  red  fins.
