Add KNO3 and the green spot algae will start to disappear.
Keep CO2 levels up when you add KNO3.
Less photo period - brown algae on the glass. |

Hi
Mayur: I have a Otto, but he doesnt seem to be interested in the algae mentioned. The green spot algae is normally hard and am sure most of the algae eaters would not be eating it. At time the snails pass ovet the path with the algae not been touched.
Madanjee: How much of KNO3 would you suggest to add to a 29 Gallon.
Thanks
Harpreet. |

Keep KNO3 levels 5-10 ppm as you have DIY CO2.
Check Chuck Gadd's site for the dosage calculator .
There is a dosage calculator on www.aquaticplantcentral.com too.
Otto's will not touch green spot algae. They'll help with brown algae though. |

I have heard that Otto's tend to start feeding on Soft Bodied plants (In my case probably Riccia) in the absence of Algae.
Is this true? |

When my Ottos were juvies, they were eating algae in a good manner. But after getting matured and old, now a days they only like Tetra Bits. Didn't even bother to touch any type of algae. But they never touched any plants in tank. |

Very true. My oto initially feasted on brown algae, before turning to dry food. Could sparse planting be the problem? |
