Vpul, Tirthankar....could you share your feed back on Seachem Excel. Has it been good for your plants? Can it be used as a substitute for CO2 in a lightly planted tank?

I bought it last time to kill the GHA in my tank. And it was a miracle. Within 1 week only all the GHA got washed out with the overdose of Excel. And from that time I noticed significant plants growth. I have used it along with my DIY CO2. It's really a cool stuff but in India, Excel is damn costly. So if you have really a small tank <=20G then you might use it as a Carbon source along with DIY Co2. Otherwise building a big planted tank only depending on Excel will be really a costly project.
*** While Using Excel follow the instructions exactly what is written o the bottle. If you need to overdose excel to remove algae, first ask who had done it already. Overdose of Excel can be fatal to your fishes and plants. |

This is what the he Petsomania website says about Seachem Excel : "250ml. treats 100 gallons upto 4-6 months." Is this realistic?
If it is then the cost seems ok to me?
BTW, I am also thinking of using it as a fertiliser for Hemianthus Cuba, grown emersed. That might be cost effective, I guess.

100% incorrect. I used it as per the dosage told by Seachem. For my 20G tank it last for only 2 months and I didn't use it regularly. Only 3 times an week.
Do not use Excel in a Moss tank regularly, as it contains Glut. For growing HC in a nano tank always you can use it but not in a 100G tank. |
