My tank contains Amazon sword and Java fern plants....recently found out few very small (5-10mm) black apple snails eating algae on the glass...sometimes they even crawl on the plant leaves....are they harmful to my plants??should i remove them.....till now i havent noticed any leaves getting eaten...but they frequently lay eggs..and i want to avoid any disaster later....pls help

Hi. First of all they aren't called black apple snails, they are called mystery snails. They must have gotten in your tank because of the plants. Yes they do eat small water plants. If they are laying eggs that means they have been consuming something in your tank. I suggest you get a pair of assassin snails and they'll eat up all the mystery snails and their eggs in few days.
