 Hi  Tims,
I  guess  the  first  step  would  be  to  get  a  FH  with  good  genetics  followed  by   proper  tank  size  &  regular  water  changes.Await  for  experts  to  comment  to  further..

One  shop  fellow  in  Bangalore  told  Rahul  that  he  hits  the  FH  head  with  a  stick  to  get  the  hump.  No  jokes!

 Hi  TIMS,

This  is  what  worked  for  me...

1.The  FH  juvi  that  you  select  should  be  from  a  good  breed.  I  had  the  option  of  selecting  after  seeing  the  parent.
 2.  Feed  thrice  a  day  with  NLS(you  might  not  get  it  here)  and  Humpy  Head.
 3.  Ensure  the  FH  tank  gets  indirect  sunlight  atleast  an  hour  a  day.
 4.  Do  regular  water  changes.
 5.  Don't  feed  live  food  (feeder  fishes  nor  market  prawns)

 Cheers,
 Prem

Fully  agree.

As  for  good  food,  there  are  lots  of  good  foods  availbale  in  the  market  for  Flower  Horns.  But  I  suggest  you  to  feed  him  with  OCEAN  FREE  Flower  Horn  King  /  OCEAN  FREE  Humpy  Head  along  with  fresh  market  prawns  twice  a  day.

Dont  forget  to  wash  &  clean  market  prawns.

If  everything  else  fails  you  could  try  a  silicon  implant.  It  has  worked  well  with  quick  results  for  Hollywood/Bollywood  stars.  Smile

There  could  be  come  hint  from  why  the  alpha  male  frontosa  has  the  best  nuchal  hump.  Should  be  the  dominance,  i  guess.

 Try  the  mirror  trick.

Keep  another  flowerhorn  with  a  divider  in  the  tank.  See  if  he  grows  the  hump.  If  you  happen  to  get  a  female,  I  am  sure  the  hump  will  grow  even  faster.

The  mirror  trick  does  not  work  for  long.  FH  is  clever  enough  to  recognize  the  mirror  after  sometime.  Only  if  you  get  a  very  good  strain,  the  hump  and  color  comes  out.  If  you  don't  have  a  good  strain  any  food  does  not  work.
