Kunal:  Bell  diffuser  is  the  oldest  way  to  add  CO2  in  Tank  water.  But  it  is  not  effective.  Lots  of  CO2  will  be  waise.  Instead  of  that  get  a  glass  diffuser  to  diffuse  CO2.  That  will  be  good  and  Value  for  money.

Even  diffusers  are  waste  when  compared  to  reactors...why  buy  a  diffuser  when  you  can  the  reactor?

 Hi,

In  my  opinion  reactors  will  do  a  good  job.  If  you  worried  about  the  space  occupied  by  it  in  the  tank,  you  could  stick  the  reactor  to  the  outside  of  the  side  glass  and  run  the  piping  in  the  tank.

Now  the  question  with  the  reactor  distributing  co2  evenly  in  the  tank  depends  on  the  rate  of  the  power  head  of  internal  filter  being  used.

 Regards,
 Surya

Yes  Tirtha,  it  would  be  overkill.

I  was  just  generally  comparing  the  various  ways  and  effectivness  of  diffusion.

Well  a  lot  of  systems  work.  The  inverted  bell  works  well  if  you  can  have  a  small  powerhead  or  a  stream  pump  circulating  water  around  the  bell.  I  have  tried  this  and  I  can  have  almost  100%  absorption  using  good  circulation  around  the  bell,  it  may  however  not  be  a  very  practical  solution.

Another  option  can  be  to  use  a  external  canister  intake  absorb  the  CO2.  This  wastes  a  bit  of  CO2  but  ensures  an  even  distribution.  Personally  I  prefer  the  top  method  as  second  only  to  a  reactor.

An  interesting  idea  could  be  used  but  I  dont  know  if  it  is  feasible  or  not..  Use  an  old  hang  on  protien  skimmer  for  CO2  diffusion  instead  of  protien  skimming.  This  will  involve  sealing  the  cup  part  that  collects  the  crud  and  releases  the  air  and  re-mapping  an  airline  from  this  back  to  the  air  intake.  This  ensures  any  undissolved  CO2  is  pumped  back  into  the  system.  It  is  something  I  still  have  yet  to  try  but  dont  have  a  spare  skimmer  at  the  moment,  but  if  someone  has  a  horrible  waste  skimmer  or  one  of  those  cheap  chinese  ones,  then  you  can  actually  have  a  reactor  outside  the  tank  Wink...  just  a  thought.
