 Hi!

I  find  that  there  are  3  variants  of  the  Philips  Trulite  avlbl  in  the  mkt.
Trulite  36W/86  ,  36W/84  ,  36W/82.  All  these  3  are  36  Watts  &  have  a  CRI  of  85.  Colour  86  has  a  lumens  of  6500  and  the  colour  description  is  Cool  Daylight.  Colour  84  has  a  lumens  of  4000  and  colour  description  is  Cool.  Colour  82  has  a  lumens  of  2700  and  colour  description  is  Incandescent  Light.

I  plan  to  fit  6  nos  Truelites  on  my  54x18x24  (Inches)(LxWxH)  glass  tank

Pls  help  me  choose  the  right  combination  from  the  above  3  variants

 Cheers!

 Hi  Neelesh

I  think  what  u  r  refering  too  as  lumens  is  actually  the  color  temp  in  K  (Kelvin).

6500K  is  our  regular  tubes  bwe  use  at  home,  4000K  and  2700K  is  way  to  low  to  be  of  any  advantage  is  an  aquaria.

U  could  look  out  for  Osram/Sylvania,  they  have  an  agro  tube,  and  if  i  remember  correctly  it  has  a  CRI  of  86  and  is  about  5200K,  they  would  work  well.

I  don't  know  much  about  the  BOYU  tubes,  but  Hitachi  tubes  (for  Aquarium)    used  in  combination  with  our  regular  daylight  tubes  would  work  well.

 Cheers

 Arvind

 Hi,

Arcadia,  UK,  Tubes  are  available  in  India.  I  am  using  the  Plant  pro  from  Arcadia  and  they  work  well.  Arcadia  has  a  whole  range  of  tubes  and  other  lamps  for  pet  and  aquarium  use  and  the  entire  range  is  available  to  us  in  India.  Only  that  they  are  more  expensive  than  normal  tubes.

 Simba!

Go  for  Truelite  36W/86  lights.  These  have  6500  Lumen  and  6500K  Color  Temp.  Color  Temp  is  more  used  factor  in  differentiating  bulbs  for  planted  tanks.  Generally,  higher  to  6000K  is  considered  good.

If  it  is  not  too  much  trouble,  can  you  please  tell  me  where  I  can  get  one  of  those  Trulite  tubes  in  Bangalore?  I  have  1  Hitachi  aquarium  tube,  and  would  like  to  combine  it  with  a  Trulite  tube  too.

Sorry  for  bothering  you  people  so  much!

 Hi  Jenny,

Get  back  to  those  lovely  yellow  pages,  and  look  for  Distributors  of  Phillips  lighting  (your  corner  electrical  store  most  likely  would  not  have  them)  give  them  a  call  and  VOILA!!!!!

Trulite  36W/86  would  complement  your  Hitachi  well

 Good  luck,
 Arvind

Most  good  electrical  shops  keep  Phillips  products  and  will  also  have  their  tubes.

The  shop  you  went  to  on  Feb  21st  -  Excel  traders  on  Dispensary  Road  also  have  the  Phillips  truelites.

Just  ask  for  a  Phillips  tube  and  then  read  the  inscription  on  the  tube  to  select  as  quite  often  the  salesmen  are  ignorant..
