The Complete Aquarium by Peter W. Scott - Dorling Kindersley

The Complete Aquarium by Peter W. Scott published by Dorling Kindersley is a very different type of Aquarium Book. It's on setting up theme aquariums, like "Amazon Rain Forest Stream aquarium", "Zaire River Rapids aquarium" and many other biotopes from many different regions.

After a brief introduction, chapters on The Natural Environment, The Fish, The Freshwater Aquarium, The Brackish-Water Aquarium, The Marine Aquarium, Tank and Water Management & Feeding, Breeding & Healthcare are presented in 192 pages.

The chapter on fishes covers topics like orgin of fish, types of fishes, fish design, etc. However, It's not an atlas with different type of fishes. Next comes the main chapter, The Freshwater Aquarium. This chapter covers aquarium setup, aquascaping, plants & moves on to setting up theme aquariums from South America, Africa, Asia, Australasia & Australia. Each setup includes detailed info on basic details about the region, planning the tank, selecting the appropriate fishes & plants & equipment & props required. Different stages of aquascaping is shown with photos. 17 freshwater, marine & brackish water setups are presented here.

The next 30 pages are on water chemistry, filteration, lighting, heating, aquatic plants, feeding & breeding fishes.

This is an excellent book for beginners & more experienced aquarists. Highly recommended.
