it  would  help  i  anyone  could  guide  me  through
1.)  is  a  light  necessary  inside  what  would  be  the  side  effects  of  a  dark  tank
2.)  what  kind  of  filtration  is  required  ?
3.)  and  how  to  set  it  up
4.)  can  i  use  it  to  breed  cichlids  as  convicts  and  such  without  substrates  and  bog  woods  inside  ?

it  would  be  a  pond.  a  pond  filter  or  over  head  sump  would  be  required.a  shade  on  top  is  essential  .

its  a  UG  tank  it  has  a  slab  over  it  with  an  IC.
no  way  sunlight  reaches  there.  no  point  growing  plants  inside.
its  not  going  to  be  a  planted  tank/pond

is  a  light  necessary  inside  what  would  be  the  side  effects  of  a  dark  tank  ??
which  fish  can  i  breed  ??

sanket..  could  you  please  post  a  picture  of  the  setup..

1.light  is  absolutely  essential..  could  you  by  any  chance  remove  the  slab?

2  /  3.  filters  are  required  but  it  could  be  a  pain..  you  could  build  use  a  pump  to  push  water  up  to  a  top  filter  (custom  made)  and  feed  it  back  to  the  tank.

 4.  think  you  can..  jus  give  them  cover..  flower  pots  (clay)  should  be  enough  cover..  if  you  plan  on  mollies  /  live  bearers,  the  fry  will  need  plant  cover  from  other  fish  and  the  parents..  dont  think  the  cichlid  parents  will  eat  their  young  (might)  but  will  be  very  territorial..

 hope  this  helps.

Light  reaching  down  to  5-6  feet  would  be  difficult.  Do  post  some  photos  of  the  tank  so  that  we  can  get  a  better  understanding  of  the  tank.
