This is the DIY that many persons had attempted. Now this is my turn.
Yes, I have completed successfully the CANISTER FILTER for my 100ltrs aquarium.
The canister used, is an industrial paint drum of 12ltrs, (15“x8“?) made of plastic. The unique thing of this drum is, it has a metal brace to close the lid air tight. I tested the drum filled with water and closed the lid with the brace. The drum then placed horizontally and sat over it with my 80 kilo weight. No leakage.
Now I drilled a hole at the lower end of the drum & a hole at the lid with a heated 1/2" metal short piece. These are holes for inlet and outlet of the canister. Fitted the bulk heads, here I pasted the rubber washers with the drum and the lid with rubber pasting solution (Dendrite). All the screw patches of the bulkheads were cladded with Teflon tape to make the junctions leakproof.
